Researching for the Future - Wireless 6G Communication Systems, Sustainable Industrial Production and Solutions from (E-) Mobility to Renewable Energy Systems

AIT ·

15:30 - 17:00 I. An overview of the integrated energy systems modeling In the Competence Unit Integrated Energy Systems we are working on solutions for the future energy system. One of these solutions aims to support the players in the energy system to develop optimization concepts and new business models, and thus to design effective sector coupling. A major focus is the integration of renewable energies into the energy system and the modeling of energy markets. (by Tara Esterl, MSc., MSc - Head of Competence Unit “Integrated Energy Systems”, Center for Energy) II. Reliable wireless 6G communication systems The mobile networking of people as well as of machines and physical objects, is advancing inexorably; 5G technology is in the global rollout. Highly reliable wireless communication for industrial control systems, robots and autonomous systems require a high level of resilience, the best functionality, security by design and high energy efficiency. To this end, a new 6G research focus was established in the Center for Digital Safety & Security at AIT Austrian Institute of Technology. In her presentation, Laura Bernadó presents the requirements for 5G and 6G systems. She gives an overview of current 5G research results and an outlook on new, promising technologies for 6G systems. (by Dr. Laura Bernadó - Scientist, Competence Unit “Security & Communications Technologies”, Center for Digital Safety & Security) III. Sustainable production of high-tech materials through digitalisation, automation and optimisation Modern technological developments are based on advanced materials. Their optimal material properties follow from a specific sequence of process steps. Manufacturing of such materials requires narrow tolerances and thus, optimal process control based on digitalisation, automation and optimisation is essential for high product quality and resource efficiency. (by Dipl.-Ing. Dr.techn. Stephan Strommer – Scientist, Competence Unit “Complex Dynamical Systems”, Center for Vision, Automation & Control)
