ABB Research: Computer Vision & SustainabilityWhat you can expect from this stream:
First part: Navigating the future of shipping based on computer vision
Vessel navigation relies heavily on human perception. For example, a person on the bridge is often using binoculars for lookout. As this approach may be suboptimal in many situations, alternative solutions are needed. In this presentation, we will discuss recent machine learning solutions related to electronic lookout and how they are used to ensure safe and efficient maritime operations.
Second part: Sustainable Materials
Within ABB’s sustainability strategy 2030, one of the key targets relates to the drastic reduction of the company’s greenhouse gas emissions: Achieving carbon neutrality in operations by 2030 and reducing the carbon footprint of ABB’s products as well as within the entire supply chain. In this presentation, we will discuss our efforts to reduce the environmental footprint of ABB’s products by implementing more sustainable and circular materials solutions. Focusing on sustainable plastics, we will discuss the potential of bio-based and recycled polymers, and how they can contribute to the reduction of the environmental footprint of our products.
